Our Vision and Mission
The New York State Immigrant Action Fund, a 501(c)(4) not for profit corporation, envisions a political system that respects immigrant voices and is responsive to diverse community needs. We believe in the power of political and electoral organizing to turn immigrant communities into a potent political force in order to promote the rights and socio-economic well-being of immigrants and refugees in New York State.
In order to increase the political potency of the immigrant vote Immigrant Action endorses candidates and elected officials who stand up for immigrant communities and against anti-immigrant opponents. Immigrant Action engages in targeted advocacy on specific immigrant-related issues such as legislative scorecards, pointed advocacy flyers highlighting individual elected officials’ stances, and intensive grassroots and direct lobbying of elected officials.
Immigrant Action was founded in 2010 in order to make sure immigrants had a seat at the table of the national comprehensive immigration reform debate.
The Washington Post just moved Pennsylvania to the "toss-up" column. Help us make sure that it turns blue this November. Join us Saturday October 15th (and 22nd, and Nov 5th) as we travel to Philadelphia to talk to voters. Transportation, breakfast, lunch, materials and training will all be provided. We just need your energy and enthusiasm!
